🌐 Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) –
Gateway to Global Trade
At Kumar and Association, we help businesses obtain their Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) — a mandatory identification number issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for businesses engaged in import or export of goods and services from India.
📄 What is IEC?
An Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a unique 10-digit number required for conducting import/export activities. No person or business can import or export without an IEC, unless specifically exempted. For service exports, IEC is not mandatory unless the exporter avails benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP).
With the introduction of GST, the IEC number is now the same as the PAN of the applicant, though it is still issued by the DGFT upon application.
🧾 Who Can Apply?
IEC can be obtained by any type of business structure including:
Sole Proprietorships
Partnerships
LLPs
Private/Public Limited Companies
Trusts, HUFs, and Societies
